Ιs a very important method that is also time effective. It offers the possibility of postponing maternity for the future to women who are likely to suffer some damage to their ovaries from medical conditions (malignant or not) or gynecological diseases.
Another category of women who resort to methods of maintaining their fertility are those who, at an early age, freeze their eggs so that they can later be able to become pregnant at an oder reproductive age.
The methods commonly followed are:
- Cryopreservation of ova.
- Cryopreservation of ovarian tissue.
- Receiving inborn oocytes and maturing them in vitro (in the laboratory).
Fertility is also maintained in men using the sperm cryopreservation method with also the possibility in recent years of testicular tissue cryopreservation .
Ideally, the expectant mother should be either less than 35 years of age and with no other cause of infertility (male or female) or older than 43 years of age with multiple extracorporeal failures.
